iv) Ideation and Concept: This artwork showing the earth is slowly melting on an oven. Nowadays, global warming issue had cause several bad effect all around the world. The green house effect, high temperature, glacier melting, and this would becoming more and more worse as the technology advanced further. This is to remind the people that our earth is currently facing a dangerous situation, if the global warming issue keep on continue, the people would eventually suffer the horrible consequences. The words "Melting Earth" in white colour and shaped like cloud with the blue sky background somehow remind the people that we used to have a natural beautiful blue sky.

Manga- One Piece

     Out of so many comics and manga around the world, this Japanese manga named as "One piece" successfully grab my attention and stimulate my interest to continue reading it. "One piece" is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. The story is about the adventure of Monkey D. Luffy, a 17 years old boy who gains elastic ability after eating a supernatural fruit. The reason i got attracted by this manga is because of Monkey D. Luffy's characteristic. Especially on how he treat his friend, how he overcome all the obstacle during his journey, his courage on willing to accept all different kind of challenge, his ambitious to achieve his dream, and many other more. As I follow the story of "One Piece", the story line and the battle scene is so amazing and successfully capture my eyesight, it just make me couldn't stop on continue read this. This manga then developed into anime series produced by Toei Animation, since then I start watching the anime series while reading the manga series. Both of the series bring different kind of feel and the story still going on after 500 chapters. It's already become a habit of mine to read the manga and watch the anime of "One Piece" every week, although the update is just so slow...

Melting Earth

Sketching about the earth are slowly melting in an oven.

The sketching seem very blur because uploaded by using a hand phone camera, so I redrew the outline with pen tool.

Get an image of earth and fit inside the oven. Use Filter > Liquify... to create the melting effect happening on the earth.

Fill the background layer with white color, erase and delete unnecessary line and space with eraser and magic wand.

Duplicate the earth layer, drag it out then Filter > Liquify... to create the effect of the earth slowly outflow from the oven.

Fill the color inside the oven with light orange to show that the oven is being heated, and the glass fill with yellow colour.

Use fill layer color with gradient color, grey and white as the background color. This artwork is mainly focus on the earth and oven, so the background use dim color to contrast the earth and oven.

Adjust the liquify effect that outflow from the oven to enhance the melting effect. Add in small details like button on the oven with pen tool.

Fill the ending part of the outflow with more dim grey color to contrast the effect of outflow. The melting earth indicating the global warming issue, the oven represent several heating effect that happening around the world. This artwork is showing that global warming issue is becoming more and more worse, the melting earth tells a message that our earth is being destroy slowly. The temperature become more and more high and the glacier is slowly melting around the world.

Tree vs Factory

iii) Theme Chosen: Environmentalism
iv) Ideation and Concept: This picture showing one of the cause of global warming issue. Forest have been destroyed in order to build more and more factory. As the technology become more advanced, the demands of building more factory is increasing. Trees have been cutting down, forest being destroyed, factory release toxic gasses, and these all  things result in causing global warming become more worse.

Tree vs Factory

I upload the sketch with a camera from hand phone and it looks not clear enough, so i start with redrew the outlines.

Then, I create a new layer and brush brown color for the tree log.

After that, i create another 2 new layer for the smoke and factory. Grey color for the smoke and blue color for the factory.

I try to use a gradient map for my background but it seems doesn't good enough. I did try other background and draw something at the background but it is not working well.

Lastly, I search on the web for a background image, I choose an image of sunset sky as my background, this actually generate a gloomy mood which suit the message that this picture indicate. The tree log inside the smoke that coming out from the factory tells a message, which is trees are being cutting down in order to build more and more factory. This will then results in causing the global warming issue become more and more worse.
